The clock was on the outside of the Diss Secondary (later Grammar) School building in Shelfanger Road. It was saved from demolition and later restored by members of the Old Dyssean Society. A ten-page leaflet explains the restoration of the clock and how to mount and maintain it. Diss Museum received the clock in full working order.
There is a brass clock movement mounted on a wooden frame stained black, with a large white convex dial with black Roman numerals I to XII and new black aluminium hands. There are three keys: a winding key with wooden knob handle; an adjustment key; and a 'letting down' key.
