The museum is staffed by volunteers, but we are always on the look out for more.

There are various roles to choose from and you can give as much time as you're able. You can meet and greet museum visitors, help out with publicity and events, or simply deliver posters and flyers. You'll also have the satisfaction of knowing you're be helping to run the town's main tourist attraction.

We are currently in urgent need of Museum Stewards. 

​

Museum Steward shifts are just two hours – 11am-1pm or 1pm-3pm – and you don’t have to commit to a regular shift, just as and when you can help out.

No previous experience is necessary, just a friendly attitude (some of our visitors like to talk) and a love of history.

New stewards work alongside an experienced steward until they feel confident enough to work alone.

if you feel you would like to volunteer we will arrange for you to come in for an informal chat and tour of the museum.
