About the event

Diss Museum’s popular Ghost Walk returns for its fourth year.

Join Museum Manager Basil Abbott for an atmospheric journey through the darker side of Diss.

Beginning in the Market Place, Basil will reveal the spooky stories and strange tales connected with many of the town’s historic buildings—almost half of which, he says, have a ghostly tale to tell.

Dressed as an Edwardian character straight from an M.R. James ghost story, Basil will then lead you through the churchyard and up into the Heritage Triangle, where the past comes to life as you encounter some of Diss’s fascinating historical characters.

Along the way, you may meet Tudor poet John Skelton, murder victims, former rectors, poets John Betjeman and Mary Wilson, and Thomas Paine, author of Rights of Man.

With the walk taking place later in the year, darkness will have fallen by the end of the tour, creating an even more atmospheric setting…
