About the event
The Game Boy, the first portable handheld game system with interchangeable game cartridges, was introduced in Japan and North America in 1989 by the Japanese company Nintendo.
The collection is generously on loan from an avid fan who initially got into collecting Nintendo consoles as a curiosity, thinking it would be fun to own a full set of all six Game Boy colour variants. This interest quickly expanded into Nintendo’s other handhelds and became a long-term project to collect as many variants as possible.
And some fun for the kids – come in and design your own Pokemon card. Materials are provided and your card will be displayed in the museum. Have a go at our quiz, or make a paper aeroplane. Sweet treats as a reward, when parents allow.
So, whether you use to play Game Boy; are a Game Boy collector; or have ever wondered what a Pikachu…
